On El Karama we breed and train our own saddle horses. These animals, created
from a mixture of Arab, thoroughbred and Somali bloodlines, are attractive, intelligent
and friendly with build and stamina suited to the bush country.

They are a pleasure to ride, and are the best means of approaching wild animals
closely without disturbing them. El Karama is also home to a small herd of camels
who earn their living carrying supplies to the ranch outposts.

Gentle, eccentric, and aristocratic, these camels who originate from the environmentally
harsh territories of the Turkana and Somali people, come along on our safaris
to move the camp and to give a ride to anyone who feels like a change
